WHAT'S IN A NAME?
While a lot of you know that Sam is my name, I’m actually named after my grandpa - so the shop is actually named after him. My Pappy Sam taught me everything about thrifting, sustainability through creative reuse (he built his house out of an upcycled train station that he bought for $1 and tore down himself - in the 70s!), and just generally being a good person. He was the ultimate supporter of my business, he’d regularly call me from a random thrift store or estate sale to see if I wanted dresses he’d found. He supported every crazy idea I ever had, taught me all the
good thrift stores, and made me feel like I could do anything I set my mind to.
We lost him to cancer in January 2020. When I sat down to write his obituary, I flipped open his wallet that was sitting next to me. It was mostly empty at that point, pared down to just the essentials, but inside I found this crumpled little piece of paper - it was a list of "good vintage brands to look for," that he had asked me to make him about two years prior. He wanted to help me with my business and he carried that scrap of paper until his last day. I hope he’s proud of me and the shop. I’m a firm believer that love, just like good vintage, should be treasured and passed down through generations.
WE LOVE WHAT WE DO
Sam’s Vintage LLC is a maximalist vintage clothing boutique located in Lawrenceville that stocks wares from the 1900s to the early 2000s. We focus on womenswear, but do not limit our stock to a specific niche - instead focusing on fun, over-the-top statement pieces that exemplify the aesthetic of the decade in fashion in which they were originally produced. This business was born from a love of collecting vintage that began when I was just twelve years old and I love using this business to help introduce young people to vintage, as such I try to focus on wearable pieces at affordable prices. We strive to offer a compelling alternative to fast fashion while preserving treasures from the past.
